2010 looks to be a tremendous year for fans of Nic Cage’s many stunning wigs. Not only will we be able to see him in Season of the Witch but we will also see him wig out (sorry) in Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

As you might have guessed by the title, the film is a “reimagining” of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice segment from Fantastia. Near the end of the trailer (at 2:13) you’ll see the only shred of evidence that suggests this is really the case, as Jay Baruchel seems to be fighting off a flood of cleaning products. The rest of it is him being picked as a chosen one and fighting off demons and such, learning that he’s far more than he thought he was! Because what better way is there to adapt a classic, wordless piece of animation history than with a stereotypical male fantasy film?

Check the trailer on Apple and wonder how well this will fare when it hits next July.

One other thing to note- while the car chase scenes in Times Square appear to be completely CGI in the trailer, they actually managed to smash a Ferrari through a Sbarro’s (horray!) Check the video.
