First announced back in May and planned for a release this winter, Blur was wisely pushed back to Spring 2010 so that they could optimize the multiplayer, and that we can all enjoy the game on our own time, of course. There are only so many hours in the day, after all, and Gnome Chompsky still cries out to be freed.

So what’s Blur? It’s a car combat game that looks ten times more exciting and interesting than your Forzas and Need for Speed Shifts. Arcade style, baby… it’s all about the games that reward your dangerous driving.

Activision just sent over the latest trailer for the game, one that focuses on how utterly fantastic those cars look while speeding through the city, smashing each other off the road. As you can see the game has a heavy reliance on powerups and attacks, so you certainly won’t be bored.

The game’s got over 50 licensed cars with full damage modeling, so you can enjoy finally smashing up these expensive vehicles. You will be able to play four player splitscreen, something that far too many racing games are including nowadays, as well as 20-player online multiplayer. There are also team-based modes which have you trying to take out a rival team. Gearheads, never fear. There’s a similar system to Project Gotham Racing‘s Kudos system in place, where by performing stunts and using power-ups you can earn fan points that will let you purchase new stuff for your cars.

It all looks great and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Check http://www.blurgame.com for more.

Wonder if it can take on Burnout Paradise on our messageboards.
