Is that… the Gorn? TrekMovie.com has a clip from one of the behind the scenes featurettes on the Star Trek reboot DVD, and it includes images of aliens that never made it into the film. These were creatures to be seen in the background at the Klingon prison where Nero was held, a sequence that was excised.
The site says that the above picture is a reboot Gorn; there’s also a salt vampire in the clip. I like the vampire, but the Gorn… c’mon! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix the man in suit. I like the simplicity of the original Gorn design, and if the Gorn do really show up in a future reboot Trek film, I hope they go closer to that classic, cheezy look.
