Somehow the word got out that JJ Abrams would be directing Mission: Impossible 4, but the director tells MTV that is just likely not true. “I’m producing with Tom [Cruise],” he said. “My guess is, given other things, that I will not be directing the movie.”

Abrams also addressed rumors that MTV seems to have made up that Cruise wouldn’t be in this new movie. “I don’t want to give anything away yet, but I will say that it’s a
story that will feel consistent with the world that has been created,”
he explained. “It’s not a reboot kind of thing.”
My guess: they’re going to introduce their own Mutt Ravenscroft in this film.

So when JJ says ‘given other things,’ what does he mean? My money is on Star Trek II. For a while I didn’t think he’d be back – I looked at JJ as a producer who would jumpstart these franchises and hand them off to other people, but it seems like he’s really gotten himself caught up in the world of the USS Enterprise.
