The Poltergeist remake, which has been in quiet development for nearly two years, was given a release date of November 2010 back in August. MGM has apparently reneged on that agreement, and is now stating a very vague 2011 release… range?
The film is being driven by director Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) with a script from the duo behind Boogeyman and Knowing (and The Birds remake, if it had any steam). Wether or not this unspecified delay spells doom for the project, or if it just means they’re letting the project roll at its own pace, is anybody’s guess.
I can’t tell you how sick I am of articles about remakes on every site requiring the author to plainly state their personal view of remakes every time. That said, I fucking love them– each and every one. I’m still crossing my fingers for Hollywood to get desperate enough to start cross-remakes. Imagine Platinum Dunes solving their remake projects’ problems with mash-ups? The Birds meets Rosemary’s Baby?
You’re welcome.
