I had a dream about the new Friday the 13th, Part II. Really. Like I was in a theater watching it. That’s the kind of guy I am – I dream about upcoming slasher series installments.
But this upcoming installment is special! It’ll be the 13th Friday the 13th film, even though it’s just the second rebooted film. That’s an amazing number for a series as delightfully dumb as this one, and I hope that the boys at Platinum Dunes have something special in mind for the big anniversary. Bring in Tommy Jarvis!
Warner Bros has announced an August 13th, 2010 release date for the film, which actually gives Platinum Dunes a lot of time (in the grand scheme of how these movies usually get made) to work out the kinks for the sequel. I liked the first one, and I think that there’s a lot of room to grow, and that the sequel is hopefully going to live up to that potential.
