Space Marines? Who needs them when you can play as an overweight pie thief?

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom
started off as a student thesis project by a group known as The Odd Gentleman, who went on to win awards at the Independent Games Festival and IndieCade and get acclaim from a whole range of publications due to its unique art style and gameplay. It soon attracted the eye of 2K Games who decided to lend their technical and fincancial support to the project to put it out as an Xbox Live Arcade title. Check out the new trailer!

Love the remixed old-timey music and how the whole clone gameplay works. It’s interesting to take a look at the trailer for their original student project and see how much more polished it looks now.

According to The Odd Gentlemen a few other publishers who expressed interest in the game wanted them to change things drastically- including making the game in color, or making the hero be a space marine (seriously). Kudos to 2K Games for letting them do their own thing and helping to put out this unique title.

Expect The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom to hit Xbox Live Arcade next year!
