Monsters vs. Aliens is what happens when the lesser Dreamworks Animation tries to ape Pixar. For every great moment that you get with the monsters, the Colbert character has to jam in a pop culture reference. Hugh Laurie shines as Dr. Cockroach, marking a vast departure from his role on House. The departure being that he’s a CG cockroach, vying for screentime against the likes of Seth Rogen and Will Arnett.
