Courtesy of IFC Films we’re proud to to premiere the exclusive first trailer for The Girl By the Lake. Directed by Andrea Molaioli and starring Toni Servillo (Gomorra), the film has racked up 10 David di Donatello Awards (the equivalent of the Italian Oscars), including best film, director and actor! Not bad for a thriller from a first time director.

It’s funny, just last week I sat down with a group of film and industry folk for a few beers in NYC, and we all agreed that this is really the future of film distribution. Direct to the customer, no fuss, no muss- this is the way to get it out to the masses and ensure that everyone gets a chance to see some great films as soon as possible. With problems of low theater attendance and piracy looming it’s only a matter of time before everyone smartens up and starts offering films fans more choices, and IFC’s really leading the charge here.
