When Lucasarts revealed on Twitter that  a big announcement was coming Monday, fans went nuts trying to see which of their favorite old-school games were coming back. After all, Tales of Monkey premieres tomorrow via Telltale Games, and on July 15th the Secret of Monkey Island special edition hits PC and 360. If we could get Monkey Island to return, why not some of their other games? We’re all pretty goddamn sick of Star Wars, after all.

Well the announcement hit a few minutes ago, and many will be disappointed to know that it’s just that Lucasarts is coming to Steam, but for a mass of gamers who haven’t yet tried any of their classic adventure games, it’s a godsend.

Here’s the full list of games coming, emphasis mine-

* Armed and Dangerous
* Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
* Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
* LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
* LOOM
* Star Wars Battlefront II
* Star Wars Republic Commando
* Star Wars Starfighter
* The Dig
* Thrillville: Off the Rails™

Those four games are some of the best point and click adventure games released, and you can’t go wrong picking up any of them. They hit Wednesday, and it seems like we can expect more on the way. No prices have been announced just yet, but they will certainly be cheaper than the crazy prices you’ll pay for these out-of-print titles, never mind that you won’t have to worry about patching them to run on XP or Vista.

“This effort is going to make it possible to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to LucasArts’ classic games,” said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts.  “It also gives more people a chance to play our games by making them available long after they’ve disappeared from store shelves.  We hope our fans are as excited as we are about our plans and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next.  This is just the beginning.”

Adventure games are on their way back, and I couldn’t be happier.
