According to Bloody Disgusting John Landis needed money really badly. So badly that he sold the remake rights to An American Werewolf in London to Dimension Films. Yes, that means the Weinstein boys are looking to remake what is arguably the single greatest werewolf films of all time.

So what? There was already An American Werewolf in Paris, and it seems unlikely that a remake could be any worse than that bit of lupine spoor. And if we all survived that, we can surely survive a straight up remake.

Besides, the Weinstein Company is looking about as healthy these days as Michael Jackson was Thursday afternoon. Times are tough for the Bros W, so maybe they’ll never even get around to making this movie happen. That said, I wouldn’t want to be the guy who underestimates these two – they have a Jason Voorhees-esque hard to kill quality about them.

Anyway, the original will always exist, and it will always continue to be a just-about perfect movie.
