A lot of people use the word ‘nimrod’ as a putdown. These people are probably not smart (or they’re using the word sarcastically, but I doubt that’s actually the case). See, nimrod, when used to describe someone, means ‘hunter.’
That’s fitting if Latino Review’s sources are to be trusted; the site is reporting that Nimrod Antal is going to be directing Predators for producer Robert Rodriguez.
Antal is a favorite of mine; his first two features – Kontroll and Vacancy are great (well, Vacancy is up until the studio-mandated ending) – and I’m looking forward to his next film, Armored. He’s a terrific visual stylist but one who doesn’t skimp on character or storytelling. He’s still the next big thing, I think. And Predators could be the film that puts him over the top.
