The DJ battle is really heating up. Just yesterday Scratch: The Ultimate DJ released pictures of their unique DJ controller, but Activision and DJ Hero aren’t taking it lying down- they just pushed out a press release that revealed a bunch more info about their game. These games are going to have quite a tough time fighting for your money over the next few months… hell, there’s already been a round of legal battles between the two.

Anyway the press release mentions a bit of info on how multiplayer would work and surprise surprise- you might be able to get some use out of those other plastic instruments.

Social expression is heightened with euphoric multiplayer gameplay where two DJs can battle competitively or have a player join in to emcee over any track in the game with a mic.  Additionally, gamers can rock together as DJ Hero features DJ-guitar exclusive mixes played with a turntable controller and Guitar Hero® guitar controller.

Emcee over any track? Is that following lyrics or just freestyle? The guitar compatibility is pretty interesting as well.

Confirmed artists for the game include Black Eyed Peas, 50 Cent, Justice, Marvin Gaye, Beck, Beastie Boys and N.E.R.D. More than 100 songs have been combined into 80 exclusive tracks for the game, by famous DJs such as the immortal DJ Shadow, DJ Z-Trip and DJ AM. All three of these have been included as characters in the game.

On the other side, doing some more digging reveals that Scratch has quite an impressive lineup as well, with Eric B and Rakim, Deltron 3030, The Beastie Boys, Kanye West, Run DMC, Tech N9ne, The Black Eyed Peas and The Gorillaz all confirmed! They even got Mix Master Mike to tweak the design of the controller, which easily looks superior and more realistic than DJ Hero’s.

What’s a hip-hop fan to do? Find out how well the peripherals work, of course. Won’t be long now….
