As most people reading this know, I was late to pick up a PS3. It wasn’t my fault- I would have loved to pick one up, but the price range kept it out of my grasp till a few months ago, when my wife picked it up for me as a wedding gift. (Good one, eh?)

I’ve been making my way through the exclusives, having a ton of fun with Warhawk, wondering what the fuss was about Resistance, and loving the Ratchet and Clank titles. But the absolute best game I’ve played on the system thus far has got to be Uncharted.

In fact, I’d consider it to be the perfect game.

Now don’t get me wrong- I don’t think it’s the best game ever made, or even one of my favorites, but it’s so goddamn polished and pure with barely any fat to it. It’s actually refreshing to play a game that will entertain you for hours and then allow you to move on. Add in a compelling story (that as our messageboard denizens have pointed out, was better than the last Indiana Jones) likeable characters, beautiful graphics and some incredible gunplay and you’ve got what’s easily the best package around.

For Uncharted 2, they’re adding something that didn’t really seem necessary the first time around- multiplayer.

Along with three player co-op (where you play as the lead characters Nathan, Sully and Chloe) where you work as a team to finish various objectives, there will be ten player competitive multiplayer. Yesterday the Playstation Blog chatted with Naughty Dog and got some more interesting tidbits about it- check the footage out below.

Sounds great. We would have been fine with just another great single player game but it’s nice to see that they’re not doing this half-assed. There will be a multiplayer beta that you can get into only by picking up inFamous when it hits on May 26th, which you’ll most probably want to do anyway.

If you haven’t played Uncharted yet and own a PS3, what are you waiting for, a price drop? Actually, now that you mention it, it is strange that it’s not a Greatest Hit yet (although it is in England). But you’re going to want to beat it before Uncharted 2 hits this fall.
