It’s been three years since Sofia Coppola’s last film, Marie Antoinette, and she’s finally getting behind the camera again to make Somewhere, a new feature set in Hollywood’s (in)famous Chateau Marmont hotel. The story revolves around an actor living the stereotypical debauched Chateau Marmont lifestyle. Hopefully there’ll be a moment where he nails Scarlett Johansson in an elevator. The actor will be played by Stephen Dorff, and yeah, that’s a step down from Benicio Del Toro, but what can you do?

Things get complicated when Dorff’s character has to spent time with his 11-year old daughter, played by Elle Fanning. Variety says Coppola has been looking to make “an intimate story set in contemporary Los Angeles,” so we know this won’t be a period piece. Which is too bad, in a way — I had initial visions of this being a look back at old Hollywood excess.

Focus Features is backing the effort, which shoots in LA and Italy this summer.
