Yesterday Russ told you that Paramount had July 4, 2011 slotted for Transformers 3. This may have surprised some of you. Especially if you’re Michael Bay. Says Bay on his official site, Shoot For the Edit:
I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a
mistake in dating Transformers 3 – they asked me on the phone – I said
yes to July 4 – but for 2012 – whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I
would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break
from fighting robots.
Shades of Iron Man 2 all over again. The practice of setting release dates first is a bad one creatively, and now we’re starting to see filmmakers really bristle against it.
Tune in tomorrow for what will likely be the next salvo in the back and forth between Bay and Paramount.
