Cinematical has the premiere of the poster for Steve McQueen’s Hunger, a truly brutal and amazing movie about the 1981Irish hunger strikers led by Bobby Sands. This McQueen is an artist making his feature film debut, and his movie is so intense, so in your face with the torture and indignities that Sands and other IRA prisoners suffered in a Belfast prison, that I would dare even the hardest core horror hound to sit through the movie and remain unaffected by what is on screen.

But the film isn’t torture porn, and it’s anchored by an elegantly angry performance from Michael Fassbender (yes, Stelios from 300) as Sands. The movie opens on March 20; hopefully I’ll have my act together enough to write a full review before then.

In the meantime, visit Cinematical to see the full poster.
