Peter at Slashfilm has uncovered a piece of art on the Legendary Pictures website — hacked, more like, since it was on a password-protected page — which suggests that a sequel to Superman Returns is indeed in the works at Legendary, and that it will be called Superman Unleashed.

Don’t get too excited — there’s no talent set up, or even a story. We get a bit of marketing copy, and nothing else. “Ramping up the action of its esteemed predecessor, the sequel to ‘Superman Returns’ promises to raise the stakes and take the audience to heights of action that no other superhero movie can achieve.”

Yeah, whatever. Call me when there’s a creative team. (And don’t say the Wachowskis, as that was one of the big fake rumors of the last week.) We don’t even know how old this image is, so it could have been whipped up any time. Don’t take it too seriously.

EDIT: Looks like this stuff wasn’t even too secretly guarded. Alex Litel (a guy who does some good work for GameSetWatch and Gamasutra) has the entire contents of the protected aspect of Legendary’s site noted down. The stuff is all gone now, so if you want to see it all, check Alex’s post.
