We’ve missed a couple of casting notes on My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?, the Werner Herzog-directed, David Lynch-produced feature that I want to see RIGHT NOW. What’s the film about? Herzog said this to Screen Daily last week: “I always wanted to make a horror film, but not with bloody axes and chain-saws.An anonymous fear should rather creep up at you.” Oh, God, yes!

And the cast? I’ll list ’em all, since you might have missed a couple beats: Willem Dafoe, Michael Shannon, Chloe Sevigny, Michael Pena, Brad Dourif, Bill Cobbs, Udo Kier and Grace Zabriskie. (After Patton Oswalt’s show on Saturday night I saw a girl that looked like a 20-year old hipster version of the actress and couldn’t decide whether to run away or investigate her Zabriskie Point.) The casting info also comes from Screen Daily, and THR.

Trades summarize the plot as “loosely based on the true story of a San Diego man who experiences a series of mystifying events that lead him to brutally murder his own mother with a sword,” but additional details say the murder takes place as the guy mentally reenacts a play by Sophocles.

If this isn’t in your top ten most anticipated for the next 12 months or so, I really want to know why not.
