DICE just announced that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is on the way. Expect to take the same crew from last year’s incredibly fun game (review here) to a whole bunch of new locations.

As you can see from this first screenshot, one of them is a snowy landscape- there will also be “dense jungles and dusty villages”, which seems familiar to fans of the first game. There will of course also be more weapons and vehicles and unheard-of amounts of destruction.

Along with this DICE has also announced Battlefield 1943, a new multiplayer game available for PSN, Xbox Live Marketplace and PC. Going back to WWII  and using the same Frostbite engine as Bad Company, it will feature 24-player battles and three tropical locations- Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. The game will be featured at the NY Comic Con, so if you’re attending make sure to stop by the EA booth to try it for yourself.

“Bad Company 2 takes everything that players liked in the original and ups the ante – more vehicles, more destruction and more team play,” said Karl Magnus Troedsson, Executive Producer Battlefield Franchise, DICE. “Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we’re eager to get into players hands.”

The Frostbite engine has completely spoiled me for shooters, as every time I play one now I expect to be able to blow apart every single object in my way and get annoyed when I can’t. More on these titles as we hear it, and I’ll be sure and bring you impressions from Battlefield 1943 this weekend!
