The directorial debut of The Departed writer, ‘Big Bad’ William Monahan, has gathered it’s leading actors: Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley have signed on to London Boulevard.
Hot off of his Golden Globes victory for In Bruges, Farrell will play a miscreant who, upon being released from prison, becomes a handyman for an actress played by Knightley.
The film is based on the 2002 book by Ken Bruen, which was a dark, gritty study of Farrell’s character, Mitchell, who was locked up for committing a crime he didn’t remember doing. Here’s hoping Monahan, who also adapted the script, is able to retain the hard-hitting, sexy vibe that helped garner the high praise heaped upon the book.
The film is scheduled to begin shooting in London this summer.
