If nothing else, Iron Man 2 is going to set a new standard for superhero movie casting. The latest (rumored) addition to the ensemble is the gorgeous and talented Emily Blunt, supposedly playing Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow.
Variety gives a pretty standard description the Marvel Comics Widow – former Soviet spy, etc – but it doesn’t give a clue as to how she’ll be used in the film. There’s not even a mention of ‘Natasha’ as Stark’s new assistant.
Blunt’s going to be on many a fanboy radar in the coming months, as she’s also in The Wolf-Man. Sadly, fanboys probably don’t know her fantastic work in the excellent The Devil Wears Prada or the underrated Charlie Wilson’s War.
