We’ve known for a while that Trick ‘r Treat writer/director Michael Dougherty has been working with Fox on Bitches, a show about four female werewolves in Manhattan. The logline makes me cringe, and I’m not optimistic about any network’s financial commitment to making the sort of werewolf show that I know I want to see. But since I trust a great number of people who have proclaimed their love for Trick ‘r Treat, I’m in. For now.
THR says that Fox is moving forward with the show. It’s given the producers a script plus penalty commitment and set up writers Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts to supervise Dougherty; they’ll also become Exec Producers if the series is picked up. They’ve most recently been on Pushing Daisies.
Also: be amused that the show is still called Bitches. Back in October Dougherty told Ryan Rotten at Shock Till You Drop that execs hadn’t yet raised a fuss over the name, but there were “back up titles, just in case”.
