James Cameron

December 2022

In production for more than a decade, Avatar 2 may seem like something that will never happen, yet in fact, it has been shot and will ultimately be released.

In July 2020, the sequel’s release date was moved from December 2021 to December 2022 due to unforeseen circumstances. No more delays have been made in the search for a good outcome (yet).

For now, we’ll continue to hope that Avatar 2 will be released in December 2022 and that it will be followed by sequels every other year until Avatar 5 (yes, 5) is released in 2028.

Only a little information has been released regarding the sequels. The first, and most significant is that a large portion of it will take place beneath the sea’s surface. As Cameron told Collider, “There’s a huge lot of waterwork in Avatar two and three.” However, the focus is on two and three.”. 20th Century Studios published a teaser image of the actors performing motion-capture work in a water tank earlier this month, proving that Cameron wasn’t joking.
