Ryan Rotten at Shock Till You Drop reported recently that Rob Zombie might be returning to Halloween (as covered by Devin) and Variety has confirmed the story. Rotten is irritated that the trade didn’t credit his info, but not as irritated as I am that Zombie is acting out the first line of Faith No More’s ‘Kindergarten’.

Not only is Zombie tackling the film, called H2, he’s doing so soon. Production is slated to begin in March for an October 2009 release date. Little more than six months to actually crank this sucker out? There’s something so Vestron Video about that…appropriate for what was once meant to be a straight to DVD sequel. Zombie originally said he had no interest in doing another Meyers film. “I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I
got excited again,”
he tells Variety. “Now, we’ll be hauling ass, and that’s
the problem making a movie called ‘Halloween’: If you come out Nov. 1
or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I’d be fine.”
I’d love to know what the Weinsteins offered him to make this happen.

Like the original sequel, H2 will pick up right after the end of Zombie’s first Michael Meyers film, but otherwise he says it won’t resemble Halloween II at all.
