Eurogamer brings welcome word that Atari plans to revisit its Baldur’s Gate, Dungeons and Dragons, and Neverwinter Nights properties, according to Infogrames honcho Phil Harrison:

“You will hear more from these, but not today, because we’re focused on 2009.”

Yes, this is a very lean news snippet, but for Baldur’s Gate fans, any news is good news.  The Baldur’s Gate series, ending with the hefty expansion pack Throne of Bhaal, has languished since the demise of Black Isle studios in 2003.  While it would be nice to see a continuation of the Neverwinter series after the surprisingly decent Neverwinter Nights 2, another Baldur’s Gate sequel would be genuinely resplendent.  Excelsior!

One can only hope that Black Isle guru Feargus Urquhart has a strong hand in the upcoming development process.

At the same press conference, Harrison also mentioned a 2010 revisitation of Test Drive Unlimited, as well as retail versions of Sam & Max: Season Two and Ready to Rumble: Revolution for the Wii.
