Late news roundup continues! I saw this one on Slashfilm on Friday, but MTV broke it on Thursday: the soundtrack for Slumdog Millionaire, Fox Searchlight’s increasingly snowballing Oscar contender. I don’t write a lot about soundtracks here because I find most orchestral scores to be fucking snoozefests, but Slumdog composer A R Rahman combines Indian music and hip hop in a really exciting sound. I walked out of the screening of the movie really hoping Searchlight would be handing the soundtrack out.

Well, the soundtrack wasn’t even ready when I saw the film. In fact, it’s going to be coming out this week – but online only. You’ll likely find it on iTunes and other etailers on Tuesday, while the physical CD will be out December 23rd.

Here’s the complete track listing. That last song is the wonderful dance number that closes out the movie.
