It’s been a long time since Joe Carnahan announced that there would be a direct to DVD prequel to his latest film, Smokin’ Aces. At the time he said that it would focus on the Tremor Brothers, the Raising Arizona-esque trio of mad punks, and that the lack of MPAA oversight would lead to a truly unfiltered experience.
And then that was it. Honestly, I thought we’d be seeing this sucker by now, especially because Universal was being pretty aggressive with their DTV titles. But it seems like nothing in Joe Carnahan’s career goes completely smoothly, so now, months and months later, the prequel finally got the green light. Direct from Joe himself, via his blog:

prequel and we are underway. Cameos will abound. Trust me.
