Repo: The Genetic Opera has been getting a ton of good buzz, which is a strange thing. It is directed by the guy who made Saws II through IV, after all. But his film about a futuristic society where people can lease organs for their body (and thus get a visit from the repo man if they don’t pay their bills) has been getting heaps of praise. It’s definitely a unique-looking film, of that there’s no doubt. And how many gory musicals can you name?
The film releases on November 7th but in a very limited release. Why would Lionsgate release an original film in a lot of theaters when it can pack them in with Saw V, after all? It’s Midnight Meat Train all over again…

Check the official site out for the trailer and a couple of film clips that will give you a demonstration of the tone. Sure, it looks goofy and silly, but anything that could possibly replace the Rocky Horror Picture Show for morbid drama students is fine with me.
