I don’t think this is a joke. I hope it isn’t. I’m praying that it isn’t.

In an interview with GQ published on Monday, Sir Elton John spoke the following words: “I’ve got to try and write a film musical for Ben Stiller. It’s
about a guy on Broadway who is gay, has HIV and AIDS, and has to go
back and face his wife and his kids that he left. It’s very funny.”
Ever vigilant, the GQ interlocutor suggested that the premise isn’t all that funny. “No, it’s very funny. The premise doesn’t sound funny, but it is. All right?”

I seem to be alone in figuring that this could actually be funnier than Tropic Thunder. Maybe that’s just because an Elton John musical makes me think of roller skates, and that leads me to hope that Stiller will actually contract the disease by skating into an AIDS tree.
