Our friends over at ABC really want you to check out their new series, Life On Mars, so much so that they’re wasting no time streaming the premiere episode on the web. Based on the British show of the same name, Life On Mars deals with New York detective Sam Tyler (Jason O’Mara), who’s struck by a car and inexplicably wakes up in the 1973 version of the Big Apple. He knows that something’s screwy – most likely with him – but try as he might, he can’t seem to wake up from his polyester and transistor radio nightmare. Although there are clues and theories bandied about, the circumstances of his (quantum) leap back in time remain one of several mysteries to be explored on the show.
I caught this myself last week and liked what I saw. It did what Journeyman should have done without ripping off Dr. Samuel Beckett, Al and Ziggy so blatantly. Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli and Gretchen Mol co-star.
