Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One is the biggest gamble to come out of the Disney purchase of the property. While we’re going to get the unavoidable and uninteresting Boba Fett movie, the story of the bounty hunters who stole the plans for the original Death Star sounds like something we haven’t seen before.

Adding a little gravitas to this endeavor is Variety‘s report that Ghost Dog himself, Forest Whitaker, has been cast in the Gareth Edwards directed movie. As usual, we don’t have any word on who he’ll be playing, but considering that the movie is only a year and a half away, I’m betting we’ll find out his role sooner than later.

Whitaker is always a welcome presence in any movie, and I’m hoping that they won’t put him to waste like The Last Stand did. Heck, Whitaker is easily one of the few remaining things I actively enjoy in Species. Oh, here’s a tip: don’t rewatch Species. You should rewatch (or for you poor souls out there who haven’t seen it yet, just watch) Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai. And The Last King of Scotland. And hell, he’s even great in Repo Men.

Forest Whitaker, thanks for being the best, even if your eyeball is constantly trying to slide out of your face.
