Last week Richard Terrasi sent over word about his newest film, The Festival. The director’s name may not be familiar to you. Hailing from my hometown of The Bronx, the guy made a splash in the horror genre with the great Am I Evil, and is now moving from the serial killer flick to some H.P. Lovecraft.

This one is an adaptation of Lovecraft’s short story of the same name about a man who travels to visit some relatives in an old town in Massachusetts. Things soon seem strange about the place, as it looks ancient, and his concerns quickly become more solid. Strange rituals are being performed, rituals that summon creatures that perhaps might look like this makeup test…

Like most Lovecraft stories it’s all about madness, and it’s also one of his first stories to involve the Necronomicon.

The film stars Kevin Pinassi (American Gangster, Am I Evil) Victoria Guthrie & Bill Koz, and was shot in super 16 to make it appear darker. Looks like it was shot in City Island! They’re looking at a wrap in September or October.

You can check out the teaser below, and head to Dark Vision Films’ MySpace page for more info and footage from the film.
