Yeah…

It’s not that the footage we’re seeing is terrible (it’s okay), it’s that the presentation is really boring. That teaser poster for Ant-Man gave me hope that, if nothing else, Marvel’s marketing team was going to be having fun introducing another lesser-known character to a wider audience. What they gave us instead is ponderous and doesn’t speak to the specificity of the character in any way. “I’ve been watching you, you’re special” could’ve been a line from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice or Divergent or whatever. But the worst part is the lack of scale in the shrinking scenes. I get that this is a teaser and we’re only seeing a very small piece of the puzzle, but why not show us something to make us understand why Ant-Man is more than just a dumb title to be mocked by the film’s own star? Why not show us at least one money shot that proves they were able to figure this character out visually?

Personally, I’ve been dreading this one since Edgar Wright left and I know a lot of you feel the same way. If you’re in that camp, did you see anything here to change your mind?
