Telegraph.co.uk is reporting that Quentin Tarantino has cast none other than Britney Spears as the lesbian stripper killer Varla (Tura Satana’s role!) in his remake of Russ Meyer’s Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
This piece of news is loaded with steam. Nowhere does it mention Inglorious Bastards (for which the first casting news broke yesterday), or any kind of timetable for production to begin. It does however, vaguely surmise that FPKK is QT’s “next film.” Let the speculation begin.
The Telegraph article later makes note that Tarantino is in discussions with other Hollywood stars to take the roles of the remaining two strippers.
A source said: “Quentin is convinced Britney will be brilliant. She’s delighted. She thinks it could turn her career around.”
Of course she’ll be brilliant. Varla is a busty queen bitch with a lot of pent-up aggression who ends up taking it out on a couple of squares in the middle of the desert before committing a bare-handed act of murder. Sounds like just what the doctor ordered for young Ms. Spears.
