How is it possible that I am sitting here without a domestic release date for Steven Soderbergh’s two film biopic about the life of Che Guevara? After he seeing the bootleg trailer below (which is only for the first film, The Argentine), I find myself wondering this doubly. Yes, the film is in Spanish. Yes it’s four hours total. Yes it’s about a Communist. But it looks to have scope and scale and beauty, even in this shitty version.

James Rocchi at Cinematical points to a recent Hollywood Reporter article where it’s said that Soderbergh turned down a distribution deal that would have smooshed the two films together into one three hour movie. That’s making me happy. Maybe playing at the New York Film Festival will give Che the bounce it needs.
