I was pretty impressed with the Comic Con teaser poster for Friday the 13th and my shitty iPhone picture that I ran yesterday just didn’t do it justice. Now IGN has a hi-res version of the poster and you can go look at it and download it as your desktop (once you eliminate that annoying IGN bug in the lower corner).
I know that I’m going to start getting criticized as being in the pockets of the producers of this film, but the truth is twofold here: one, everything I have seen, including a lot of stuff that I can’t yet reveal due to embargoes, indicates that this is going to be a really good slasher movie starring Jason. Two, Platinum Dunes would have to work really hard to make this the worst Friday the 13th movie. Really, really hard.
There’s stuff I’m not totally sold on, like the light hearted, comedic teenager elements (not because it doesn’t belong – it does – but because Platinum Dunes and Marcus Nispel aren’t known for that kind of stuff, so I’m holding judgment until I see it), but the vast majority of what I have seen indicates that this will be a movie that gets my favorite horror franchise back off the ground.
