You should really live in LA. Check this out: tonight at the wonderful and historic New Beverly theater not only will you be able to meet CHUD blogger and my good pal Julia Marchese, you’ll be able to enjoy two fantastic movies with the people who made them. And Diablo Cody, and probably a couple of other cool people.
Like Edgar Wright, Eli Roth and Joe Dante before her, Diablo has programmed a film festival at the New Bev. Called Mondo Diablo it has some incredibly good choices, a few of which should easily pack the theater out. Tonight it’s Stripes and Thank You For Smoking, and Diablo will be presenting Ivan and Jason Reitman for a Q&A. How cool is that? I would love to be there, but I’ll be at the Ricky Gervais show instead*.
I do hope to make some of the other screenings, none of which yet have guests confirmed. Looking at the list, though, I know some nights are all but guaranteed to have terrific talent on hand. Here’s the full list:
