A tale of two-fisted Torah terrors? That, according to the devilishly sexy El Mayimbe at Latino Review, is exactly what Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds script is all about (and yes, El Mayimbe specifies that QT spells it with an ‘e’).

Always first on the scene with a new script, El Mayimbe reveals that Tarantino’s film sees a crack team of Jewish soldiers going into France on a mission to get some revenge on Nazi bastards – they’re given a quota of 100 Nazi scalps! – and this twist, that QT is making a Jewsploitation movie, gets me kind of excited. This is unique. As El Mayimbe himself notes, this is part of the post-Munich Tough Jew zeitgeist (which also brought us Zohan), but taken to Tarantinoesque extremes.

The Inglorious Basterds are going into France as part of Operation Kino, an effort to blow up a movie theater premiering Goebbel’s latest propaganda picture. So meta. And I can only imagine how QT is going to make that meta work… at least I can only imagine for the time being. Here’s to hoping that a studio ponies up for this one, because I’m dying to see Tarantino’s take on a Jewish revenge World War II picture…
