Ever since Rob Zombie started all of his cryptic postings via his MySpace page regarding his next project, Tyrannosaurus Rex, there’s been a shitload of rumor and speculation surrounding the project. Everything from it being a B-monster movie, to an adaptation of The Nail, a comic book he co-wrote with Steve Niles, with Nat Jones handling the killer artwork.

Eventually, the latter became the prime source of speculation; it soon became apparent Tyrannosaurus Rex was about a mean-motherfuckin’-tough-as-nails ex-wrestler going up against a legion of lethal bikers, adding further fuel to the fire.

Well, I guess Steve Niles, one of Zombie’s partners in crime on The Nail, has been getting bombarded with queries regarding the possibility of The Nail becoming a motion picture, so Niles decided it was time to settle things on his blog:

“I’ve been getting a lot of calls and mail about Rob Zombie’s new project, Tyrannosaurus Rex. People seem to be under the impression that Rob is doing The Nail and cutting me out. This is not true. Not only is T-Rex a different story, but also Rob is 100% owner of The Nail and is welcome to cherry pick anything he wants. It’s his concept. I was just along for the ride.

“There are NO issues between Rob and I. Creep might be dormant at the moment, but we are not ruling out more team-ups down the road.

“I hope this clears things up.”

So there you have it. What exactly the storyline revolves around is still unclear. Yes, there seems to be a former pro wrestler. Yes, there appears to be a gang of adversarial bikers, but that’s about all anyone other than Zombie and his creative team seem to know at this point. Once again, the rumor mongers are way off.

In the meantime, watch here and here to get the straight dope from Zombie himself.
