I was one of the early adopters of Horrible Bosses, and it marks probably the last time my byline makes into into a commercial so I’m one of the people rather excited about revisiting the characters. Sequels are hard. Comedy sequels are harder. The temptation to revisit what worked the first time is so strong it’s rare that the filmmakers have enough gas in the tank to deliver new moments of value. The trailer for the sequel doesn’t do a lot to excite me. Worse yet it focuses entirely on the surely small appearances from characters from the original played by Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, and Jennifer Aniston. They have Christoph Waltz and Chris Pine and they’re practically unseen.
It’s only the first trailer but it doesn’t inspire much hope.
