We first told you about the horror film Dead and Gone back here, and now, over a year after the film wrapped, is it finally ready to be seen.

Actor Jack Wade (Quentin Jones of “Fight Night”) takes his comatose wife Frankie (Kathrine Bates of “General Hospital”) to an isolated cabin in the mountains-a place where a man once murdered his entire family.

Jack was a kept man. Now he must care for Frankie alone, because they have run out of money.

This dilapidated cabin is all they have left. The redneck father and son that live nearby are definitely eccentric but seem harmless enough. Jack flirts with Constable Kate Eidson (Gillian Shure of “Hollywood Kills” and “The Slaughterhouse Massacre”), a woman who has such bad memories of the war in Iraq she won’t even carry a gun.  Poor Jack is a fish out of water. He starts to imagine things and comes to believe Frankie is up and moving around. She’s rude, crude and taunts him relentlessly. Jack starts to come unraveled-and eventually decides to eliminate his wife.

But Frankie won’t die. Is she some kind of monster, or is Jack just insane? Is the cabin haunted, or is it all of the above?

The trailer for the film just went online, and it’s looking good.

The film was made from a script by Harry Shannon, a man who’s quite a great horror author and has just released a very fun book entitled Daemon which is most definitely worth picking up.

Lionsgate will be releasing the film on dvd on July 1st with a bunch of extras, like an audio commentary with director Yossi Sasson and Harry Shannon, a making of featurette, and outtakes. Delirium Books (my favorite publisher in the world) will be releasing a novelized version of the film in August.
