When the going gets tough, the tough go to Bollywood.

Or perhaps not — if that statement actually held any truth, Jennifer Lynch would have been directing in India a decade ago. But it’s taken her until now to sign a deal with India’s Split Image Pictures which will see her helming a horror flick called Nagin. Based on a myth of a snake woman who can take human form, which doesn’t entirely rule out a twist involving New Orleans’ former (oops, current)  mayor, the flick will star Bollywood heavyweights Mallika Sherawat and Irfan Khan.

This makes 2008 a damn good year for Lynch; she’s already finished Surveillance, her first directorial effort since 1993’s maligned Boxing Helena. Surveillance had a bit of good word coming out of Cannes, but further info has been scant. I’m looking forward to the supposed September release.
