Johnny Depp’s make-up reminds me of that Jamie Lee Curtis movie, Virus (remember that?). That’s not a good thing.
Wally Pfister has a great eye for cinematography (The Dark Knight), but the imagery in this teaser is about as clichéd as the idea that the singularity is a techno-boogeyman. That said, I’m excited by how silly this seems. There’s a good chance—made better by this trailer—that this movie will be a straight up fiasco, and those are at least fun to watch.
The Lawnmower Man Transcendence hits theaters on April 18, 2014 and stars Depp, Kate Mara, Morgan Freeman and a lot of other people, including Wings’ boy, Cole.
