Okay…I’ve been putting off doing a blog for a couple of fairly good reasons:

  1. I’m a chronic (lazy) procrastinator (bastard).
  2. I didn’t know what to say.
  3. It’s hard finding a good picture of myself.

But now that I’ve managed to address at least one of the above issues, I thought I’d give it a shot.

First off, I titled my blog “Rollin’ In My Six-Fo” because unlike many of the rap stars or wiggers hanging outside the local GAP who haven’t even laid eyes on one, I actually do get around town in a ’64 Plymouth.  It’s on its last legs and I wish I had the money to fix it, but until I hit the lottery, get the better job or my condo suddenly triples in value overnight, it ain’t lookin’ too good.  I’ve had it for almost 13 years, and I drove it out here from Indiana a month after I got out of college.  Damn thing broke down on me twice on the way out here.   It looks like something the marauders from The Road Warrior would be getting around in.  Still, it’s paid off, unique, the insurance premiums are a joke, I don’t have to smog it, it’s got a decent stereo I had the boys at the local Best Buy put in, and I love it.

As for myself, well depending on whom you ask, I may or may not be as interesting as my ride.  Here’s the short version in easily digestible factoids:

  • First of all, my name is and isn’t David Oliver.  I had/have the same name as a former CHUD All-Star who has since departed.  He’s the reason I got hooked up with this gig.  So at one time, Nick actually had two of us with the same name for a while.  Needless to say, it was confusing come Christmas card time.
  • I’m of the Caucasian, Black, Native Indian and Spanish variety.  So I can bypass all the bullshit and argue with myself about racial matters.
  • I’m a Leo, which means something, but I haven’t checked my horoscope in like, forever.
  • I’m married to a Kenyan female who likes to run farther everyday than I like to drive to work.
  • I once sang drunk karaoke with Mario Van Peebles.  I believe it was the Patsy Cline song, “Crazy.”
  • I also own a 2001 Nissan that I never get to drive, and a 2001 Suzuki SV650S that I’m usually afraid to drive.
  • I’ve written a couple (okay three) low-budget movies of which you’d have to snip off my toes one by one to get me to claim.
  • I put hot sauce on anything and everything.
  • I count the days in between the opportunities I get to have White Castles.  Why they’re not out here in LA I’ll never know.  What I do know is that if they were out here, that whack-ass, punk-ass, bitch-ass In & Out burger franchise with their so-so hamburgers, cardboard-tasting fries and half hour wait for your order would go the way of Burger Queen.
  • The Louisville Cardinals college basketball team rule the world.  Except every time I watch them play they lose.
  • I’m of the opinion that the ’70s were the decade for music, no matter the genre, but especially for Soul.  My wife likes techno and dance music.  I’m still trying to forgive her for that.
  • Finally, I enjoy the shit out of writing for CHUD…despite the zero responses most of our DVD review threads get, and the certain zero responses my Blog thread is set to get.

Till next time.
