There seems to be little doubt at this point that we’ll see a second Iron Man flick; the only question is when. /Film relates that at the film’s Hollywood premiere Sumner Redstone (Viacom Exec Chairman) and Brad Grey (Paramount CEO) told Entertainment Tonight that based on good returns this weekend they’ll greenlight a sequel for the same time slot in 2010.
Furthermore, IESB has Downey’s trainer on record saying that he’ll go to work on Downey next week to shape up for the sequel. I’ll take that as a less binding statement than the words from Redstone and Grey, but unless Iron Man takes a shocking nosedive we might see a sequel announcement by the end of the weekend.
