The McSpaced drama continues! Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood recently ran a story about the TV pilot season, and the post seems to have drawn a comment from someone claiming to be Robert Green of Granada USA, the guy who sold Spaced to McG’s Wonderland production company. As is too often the case with Deadline Hollywood, the entire entry seems to be gone (couldn’t Nikki have just deleted the comment?) but here’s what it read before it was killed:Here’s what he said:
“McG hasn’t ignored anyone. he’s reached out constantly to the original
creators. he’s been rebuffed. i can state categorically as the person
who set up spaced in the US that McG and wonderland in general have
acted utterly appropriately and above board with simon and edgar. the
truth is simple and two-fold: simon and edgar feel that spaced is a
part of their past that they didn’t want to revisit (a completely
reasonable position on their part). but they didn’t control the rights,
Granada did. and it wasn’t within their control, therefore, to tell
granada what to do. it sucks, but their original deal sucked. if one
wants to make the argument i shouldn’t have sold it, i get that, but
ultimately I made a judgment call.”

He continues…

“I’m
just so sick of all the bullshit coming out of simon and edgar’s camp
directed towards McG, who has acted completely honorably all the way on
this. that idiots on websites swallow that load without even having to
wipe their chins surprises me not at all.”

As Edgar mentions on his blog, McG contacted him… in March. A week before the pilot started shooting. And as usual Jessica Hynes is left out of the discussion altogether.

Then there’s the attack on the people who are annoyed with McSpaced, including the outrageous claim that I don’t wipe the cum off my face. I dare Green to show me a time when I didn’t ask Edgar to throw me a t-shirt or something to wipe down with after I finished fellating him. Further, I challenge Green to a duel in public: he will meet me at Hollywood and Highland and we’ll do a dick sucking contest, me on my knees in front of Edgar, him on his knees in front of his master Satan.

Meanwhile, I’ve been hearing rumors that make it sound like McSpaced is going to move past the pilot stage. I don’t have much in way of confirmation on this, so take it with a grain of salt, but we may not be able to let this McSpaced drama rest yet…
