A dash of Taken, an ounce of Drive, a cup of Fast & Furious and boom, you’ve got a straightforward fall action film from Warner Brothers.
You’d be forgiven for mistaking this as the blockbuster winner of a dueling-project relay with Paul Walker’s VOD release Vehicle 19, but this is a little more generic than, say, dueling Linda Lovelace biopics or Asteroid-base disaster films, so probably a coincidence.
It’s hard to tell if Getaway will be worth a shit- it just depends if all of that driving action is shot and cut with any sense of coherence or invention. Director Courtney Soloman has been responsible only for An American Haunting and Dungeons & Dragons (!) before this, so, a coin toss.
