IGN’s got the most absurd news you’re going to read all day, and perhaps all week*: Marc Ecko Entertainment is going to be producing a video game based on Showtime’s series Dexter.

Do the double- and triple-take, then get back to me.

Yeah, that’s Marc Ecko Entertainment. The company owned by the guy who cried ‘misunderstood’ when his grafitti/rebellion game Getting Up sucked giraffe ass. And with that as the one example of an Ecko game, I expect Dexter to be more than just a CSI-style point and click adventure game. Verily, it could well be garbage in full 3rd person stylee.

Without a developer signed yet (hey, I hear Shiny isn’t busy) what has Ecko got to say about the project? Nothing, but here’s another Marc — Mr. Fernandez, the VP of Marc Ecko Entertainment:

Dexter is the extremely rare TV show with enough layers of action and tension to translate perfectly into a compelling videogame. Our game designers, writers, and artists are going to give Dexter’s morally complex world the kind of interactivity that gamers will love.

Tells us a lot, right? Expect more information on this later in the week when the industry is done collectively shaking it’s head.

*They also nabbed the obvious article title, ‘Darkly Gaming Dexter’.
