1d4d107ec1e94de8e4971fa12905f808As expected, Pain & Gain did not turn out to be everyone’s cup of tea, and yet I don’t think I’ve seen an ill-word anywhere about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The man has three big movies this summer in G.I. Joe, Pain & Gain, and Fast & Furious 6, and it seems as if he’s finally claiming the action superstar crown he’s deserved for nearing a decade.

Well along with a bumpin’ movie career, we can now add (non-wrestling releated) TV star and producer to his accomplishments as he makes a deal with HBO.

We don’t have a title yet, but Johnson will produce and star in a dramatic comedy series about “retired athletes living in Miami.” A lot of ways that can go. The Rock is not the only name attached- frequent HBO producer and Johnson’s Pain & Gain co-star Mark Wahlberg will executive produce, while Peter Berg will direct the pilot. As the “30 For 30” Doc Broke will make clear┬áto you, there’s plenty of drama in the lives of retired athletes, who are, more often than not, living lives as tough as anyone.

HBO has a ton of cool stuff in the hopper, but this just shot to the top of the Fuck Yes List.
